About This Opportunity:
We are looking for a skilled and motivated VMware L2 Infrastructure Engineer to join our IT Operations team. In this role, you will play a critical part in managing, maintaining, and optimizing our enterprise virtualization environment. You will be responsible for ensuring the health and performance of virtual infrastructure, resolving incidents within defined SLAs, and supporting day-to-day operational activities. What You Will Do:
- Manage and support virtualized environments using VMware vSphere and VMware vCenter Server
- Provision, configure, and decommission virtual machines in line with business requirements
- Perform VM cloning, snapshot management, and template administration
- Monitor infrastructure health, performance metrics, and alerts proactively
- Troubleshoot L2-level issues including:
- VM performance degradation
- Host and resource utilization concerns
- Storage latency and I/O bottlenecks
- Resolve incidents within SLA timelines and escalate complex issues to L3 teams when required
- Conduct routine tasks including VM backup validation, snapshot cleanup, and log reviews
- Assist in patching and upgrades of ESXi hosts as part of scheduled maintenance windows
- Work with datastores including VMFS and NFS
- Coordinate with storage teams on SAN/NAS related activities
- Support enterprise backup tools such as Veeam or Commvault
- Perform basic management of Standard Switches (vSS) and Distributed Switches (vDS)
- Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues between virtual machines
- Execute approved change requests following ITIL/change management processes
- Support planned maintenance activities and coordinated downtime windows
- Document changes accurately and maintain up-to-date runbooks
The Skills You Bring:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in VMware administration within enterprise environments
- Proven experience with:
- ESXi host management - configuration, patching, and troubleshooting
- vCenter Server operations - VM lifecycle management, resource pools, and clusters
- Working knowledge of:
- Storage concepts - SAN/NAS, VMFS, NFS datastores
- Networking fundamentals - VLANs, IP addressing, virtual switching
- Familiarity with Windows and Linux VM administration
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to work under pressure
- Good communication skills and ability to collaborate across infrastructure teams
- Experience working within ITIL-based or structured IT operations environments is a plus
