Role: ET Middleware Services (Web Systems) Engineer
Location: Bangalore
Working Hours: 12-9PM
Working Model: Hybrid
Intro:
CSC is seeking a Middleware Operations Engineer with a desire to be part of a growing and innovative team that configures, provisions, manages and observes critical IT services. The Middleware Services Engineer should also have a background in public or private cloud infrastructure technologies. This role will be key in providing eyes on glass monitoring and operational support to the infrastructure; ensuring scalable, resilient, and highly available private cloud Enterprise Technology (ET) Services and the underpinning core infrastructure supporting them to ensure quality over time.
This role is key in managing operations, observing the infrastructure environment, proactively remediating issues, while providing customer service. You will assess and drive service quality and infrastructure performance improvements across ET infrastructure. CSC ET is excited to partner with our customers in providing innovative and automated operational solutions that will move the reliability needle forward within CSC's digital transformation journey.
You will join CSC's NEW Global ET Middleware OPS team and work on the front lines where you will access issues quickly and perform middleware component lifecycle and service activities. This new and exciting team will be responsible for enabling a safe and progressive application modernization journey for our customers by applying DevOps philosophy in a prescriptive manner that promotes reliability for our (IaC) customer ET product offerings.
Together, Middleware Service Engineers will collaborate around the globe with CSC teams such as ET Developers, Business Unit Developers, Infrastructure Operations, Program Management, Security and Enterprise Architecture. This interconnected partnership is required to ensure that the right work is being completed, measurable reliability for our systems is enabled, and changes to our operational environment are safeguarded.
Some of the things you will be doing:

  • Monitor and Observe the availability and performance of Middleware products by partnering with internal customers utilizing our offerings with the goal of automating:
    • Tests that promote trust and velocity to code releases
    • Prevents problem recurrence
    • Error handling & responses to all non-exceptional service conditions
  • Develop, document, and update standard operating procedures and knowledgebase articles.
    • Prepare standard reporting to support service trending optimization
    • Identify and address repeating alert trends or nonactionable alerts to streamline and optimize services.
    • Suggest defects and product/infrastructure enhancements to improve stability and automation
  • Perform initial investigation and/or troubleshooting of system and network issues to resolve and determine root cause
  • Process support request following procedural requirements
  • Delegate to secondary support teams, where necessary, to ensure timely resolution
  • Thoroughly document steps taken to resolve incidents within ServiceNow tickets.
  • Collaborate with solution engineers, developers, and architects to help deliver successful releases of customer applications on ET built private cloud products.
  • Create and complete Change Control Reviews (CAB) prior to a customer & Application Deployment releases
  • Middleware will also share the responsibility of supporting the release, along with a customer's support team with the goal of enabling customers to be self-sufficient long-term
  • Build, Deploy, Maintain middleware infrastructure.
  • Support the automated products of middleware by execution, resolving failures and defect handling and requests
  • Assist ET's Reliability team with current on-premise infrastructure to modernize, automate and orchestrate workflows and develop a self-service CSC (IaC) catalog
  • Recommend design or test methods and statistical process control procedures (playbooks) for achieving required levels of product reliability and resiliency
  • Reduce Toil in the environment and help provide the necessary performance quality to modernize future operations and process design to enhance reliability and resiliency of ET services.
  • Balance the management of pending requests via the ServiceNow ticket queue and troubleshoot incoming incidents, leveraging event monitoring tools (Elastic, Splunk, Solar Winds, etc.)


What technical skills, experience, and qualifications do you need?

  • Experience within a DevOps or Middleware role for high-traffic, mission critical systems
  • Experience in troubleshooting Networking Connectivity issues, including firewalls (i.e. Ansible, F5, Palo Alto, Cisco ACI, Nutanix, Active Directory, Info Blox and Sectigo)
  • Administration of middleware platforms including API Gateway, F5 LTMs, F5 GTMS, SOLR, Sonic, VIPs, Load Balancing, Apache Tomcat, SQL, Java, Oracle, Solar Winds, Splunk, etc.
  • Experience building tooling and automation around persistent systems issues (Design, write, and deliver software to improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of CSC services.)
  • Experience coding, ideally Java and .NET, the candidate should also have experience with continuous delivery concepts, source control concepts, automation tooling (i.e. Ansible) and understanding of YAML
  • Experience Troubleshooting and resolving issues in a very short time window. Using lessons learned to establish methods, tools, and process improvements for large groups or organizations)
  • Experience supporting and troubleshooting Kubernetes systems in production
  • Experience with observability, monitoring, and code inventory tooling
  • Hands-on experience with processes that enable reliability of applications and supporting infrastructure (ie: Linux and Windows OS, network, firewall, web, etc..)
  • Experience with follow the sun, hand-off for effective collaboration in a rotating, global team
  • Ability to work with customers to help make them successful in managing their product for their end users. (Collaborate well with others, with excellent negotiation and organizational skills)
  • Ability to take ownership, manage multiple priorities in an ambiguous and busy operations environment, and deliver outstanding results on time. (Fill In/Fall Back)
