Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership & Executive Communication

  • Present payment performance metrics, challenges, and recommendations to leadership during business reviews.

  • Develop clear and concise reports with actionable insights for decision-making.

  • Act as a thought leader for payment strategies in alignment with business goals.

2. Payments Operations & Vendor Management

  • Manage and optimize integrations with payment gateways (PGs) and vendors.

  • Monitor and troubleshoot challenges related to PGs, including latency, transaction failures, and settlement issues.

  • Negotiate contracts and SLAs with payment partners to ensure the best outcomes for the business.

3. Payment Success Rate Optimization

  • Identify and mitigate reasons for transaction failures across different payment methods.

  • Work closely with engineering, product, and vendor teams to implement solutions that enhance success rates.

  • Analyze transaction data to uncover patterns, and drive initiatives to increase approval rates.

4. User-Focused Payment Experience

  • Understand user behavior and design strategies to convert non-paying users into paying customers.

  • Develop nudges, hooks, and campaigns that encourage higher payments from existing users.

  • Enhance user retention by ensuring frictionless payment experiences and value-driven incentives.

5. Data-Driven Approach

  • Utilize analytics tools to monitor payment performance, identify pain points, and drive continuous improvements.

  • Design experiments (A/B tests) to evaluate new payment strategies and their impact on user behavior.

Qualifications & Skills Required

  • 7+ years of experience in payments, fintech, or e-commerce, with expertise in payment gateways, vendor management, and integrations with a proven track record of improving payment success rates and user payment behaviors.

  • Deep understanding of payment systems, UPI, wallets, credit/debit cards, and global payment trends.

  • Familiarity with payment analytics tools and A/B testing frameworks.

  • Exceptional presentation and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership.

  • User-first mindset with a knack for designing payment journeys that engage and retain customers.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and address payment-related challenges effectively.

  • Experience working in cross-functional teams including product, engineering, data analytics, and customer experience.
