WHAT WE DO 

Western Digital India Team represents Engineering R&D, Sales, Marketing, Operations, Strategy, Business Functions and Communications. We have a large R&D presence in Bengaluru and sales offices across the country. 

WD Bangalore is a Center of Excellence and within R&D, our team is focused on enterprise Hard Disk Drive Engineering. It is a growing team that has been responsible for key enterprise products and has been instrumental in design, development of next generation architecture and products.

WHAT YOU WILL DO 

As senior manager you will grow and manage a highly achieving team developing and operating a variety of business critical development and CI/CD tools and work closely with IT in coordinating the infrastructure needs for continuous automation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage and lead cross functional teams in the Test development/Validation of eHDD (Opti-NAND).Experience in architecting & implementation of white box/grey/ Blackbox Tests and Validation. Products with a special emphasis on key technologies (Simulation, NAND etc), qualification testing and processes.

• Primary Responsibility to lead team own’s DVT [Device Verifications Test] Development which include Directed test and Random workload test development and Validation.

• Software engineering and disciplines in design, development, test, source-code management, and CI/CD practices.

• Experience in Test/Validation of complex software/firmware systems, hardware products.

• Active participation in technical discussions with architects and key technical leaders.

• Ensure that program objectives and deliverables are accomplished in a timely fashion to meet product ramp requirements and build contingency plans.

• Support agile team Test development processes and Validation, helping to resolve roadblocks and impediments.

• Measure and monitor the quality and progress of the work of the team and adjust accordingly

• Hire, coach, and manage staff as needed. Provide career development and performance coaching.

• Collaborate with peer managers to lead broader organizational initiatives

• Create a team culture that supports open communication, collaboration across teams and across sites,and empowerment to employees.

• Having knowledge of multiple test-frameworks to architect and devise validation efficiencies

• Exposure to TDD would be preferred , provided knowledge is applied in real-world implementation

• Having worked in SaFE would be a plus

• Proven track record of contributions to Innovation and new-age technology adoption (ML, AI).

Qualifications

REQUIRED 

  • Bachelors/Masters in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field with 9-12 years experience.

    • At least 1-2 years of experience in a management or technical lead role.

    • Hands on experience in Python/C++/C# object oriented programming skills.

     Working Knowledge of any NAND product is a plus.

    • Low level firmware/software debug skills and any storage protocols [SAS, SATA, UFS, NVMe] are a plus.

    • Experience building and leading a team of strong and motivated engineers and mentoring them to maintain architectural vision and having a growth mindset.

    • Proven ability to achieve results in a fast moving, dynamic environment.

    • Balanced technical and business mindset with great attention to detail and an ever positive, can-do attitude.

    • We are looking for not just a manager but a firmware test expert and exceptional team leader who is able to analyse and breakdown complex design problems and provide roadmap of solutions and guide the team.

    • Demonstrate use of out-of-box thinking for creative solutions to highly sticky problems.

    • You have excellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication.

    Preferred

    • Experience in Test development & Validation across one of these areas; Memory/Firmware/Storage/Simulation

    • Hands on experience in Python/C++/C# object oriented programming skills. Working Knowledge of any NAND product is a plus.
