Job Summary
Responsible for network site planning, equipment deployment planning, deployment managing and basic design of network instances. Completes network deployment, manages contract teams in deployment, provisions and supports, wireless, Ethernet transport regional network serving residential and commercial customers. Responds to network incidents, determines resources needed for correction and corrects or leads team involved in resolving incident. Has in-depth experience, knowledge and skills in own discipline. Usually determines own work priorities. Acts as resource for colleagues with less experience.
Job Description
Core Responsibilities
- Serves as a technical lead, providing guidance and mentorship to junior network engineers. This position works under limited supervision.
- Leads the design and implementation of custom network solutions for existing and potential customers. Follows best-practice industry standards to provide a network design which is functional, scalable and secure.
- Supports the Solutions Architect group to design, document and implement customer pilots and provide support for customer testing as required while in the pilot phase of the sales process.
- Provides network engineering support to Sales organization as required.
- Provides Tier IV escalation support to Help Desk. Troubleshoots, diagnoses and resolves customer network issues. When applicable, recommends changes to remediate any network deficiencies to enhance network performance.
- Researches, evaluates and provides recommendations for new hardware and software solutions, to stay current with new technology and market trends and future requirements.
- Position requires participation of a rotating “on call” schedule to provide support for our business and customers.
- Creates technical presentations as needed, presenting to various audiences (both internal and external) with all levels of technical knowledge.
- Develops, documents and maintains processes and procedures related to design, implementation, maintenance and operations of various complex customer networks.
- Follows and enforces documented processes and procedures to meet established compliance requirements.
- Analyzes customer bandwidth requirements and system interdependencies as required. Develops capacity planning models to meet customer’s future needs.
- Supports various professional services projects for existing or prospective customers to include, but not limited to Network Discovery & Design, Wireless LAN, and Security audits.

Education and Experience
- Experience in network design, implementation, installation, maintenance and
- SDWAN technologies troubleshooting of complex networks.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
- CCNP, JNCIP, FNCSP(NSE4), CCVP, CCSP Certification or equivalent on-the-job experience considered
- Strong working knowledge of various Vendor routers, switches, firewalls, SDWAN appliances and wireless devices to include; Cisco, Meraki, Fortinet, Juniper, Aerohive, Mist and Cradlepoint
- Strong understanding of networking technologies
- High Availability protocols such as; HSRP, VRRP, GLBP
- IP Routing protocols to include; RIPv1, RIPv2, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, Policy Routing
- Tunneling protocols to include; GRE, IPSec, DMVPN, IWAN
- QOS, Traffic Policing and Shaping
- ACLs, AAA, TACACS+, RADIUS, SNMP, DHCP
- Switch VLANs, VTP, STP
- Wireless Networking
- Understanding of VoIP, SIP and PRI voice technologies
- Understanding of various network tools to include WhatsUp Gold, SolarWinds Orion, Cisco CCE, Cisco Prime, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, Wireshark or Netscout
- Understanding of various compliance requirements, to include, but not limited to, PCI DSS, HIPAA, SOC a plus
- Organized individual with the ability to manage multiple projects or tasks, while in a leadership or team member role.
- Strong technical documentation skills, to include creating network diagrams, operations and maintenance procedures, and technical presentations.
- Strong verbal skills, to include technical presentations to all levels of technical expertise.
