Senior Counsel South Asia

Job Description SummaryThe Senior Counsel will be a key member of GE Aerospace’s regional legal team for South Asia in support of the GRC Bangalore technology centre, engineering, research and digital technology business and supply chain manufacturing in the region, while also providing legal, regulatory and compliance support to the broader GE Aerospace team, including our Commercial Engines and Services, and Defence and Systems business units. The role reports to the Regional General Counsel, South Asia for GE Aerospace. This role will be based in Bangalore.
You will work closely with business leaders, customers and other stakeholders to deliver outstanding service while working regionally and globally across function and business.
As part of the regional legal team, you’ll help drive the function’s strategy, with customers, suppliers, partners and employees while also embracing FLIGHT DECK to drive continuous improvement and employee and customer satisfaction.Job Description

Established in 2000, the John F. Welch Technology Center (JFWTC) in Bengaluru is our multidisciplinary research and engineering center. Engineers and scientists at JFWTC have contributed to hundreds of aviation patents, pioneering breakthroughs in engine technologies, advanced materials, and additive manufacturing.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Provide counsel, partnership and position oneself as a trusted advisor to the leadership team.
• Advise local leadership on applicable laws and regulations after careful evaluation of the needs of the business.
• Develop a good understanding of the needs of the business and the risk profile.
• general support and intake counsel work covering areas including data protection, technology, labour and employment, contracting, manufacturing, real estate, site regulatory compliance and M&A.
• ability to develop, operationalize and sustain systemic solutions for legal and regulatory compliance.
• ability to interpret internal and external business challenges and to recommend best practices to improve products and processes
• Ability and willingness to build strong external networks in support of the business

Ideal candidate:

15+ years of experience legal, regulatory and compliance.

Required Qualifications

• Undergraduate Degree in Law from any Common Law Jurisdiction with 15+ years of experience.
• Relevant Post Graduate Qualifications an added advantage.
• A strong commitment to integrity and professionalism, and passion for excellence.
