About Us: Advantest India, located in Chennai, serves as the development center for Advantest Test Solutions (ATS) based in Lake Forest, CA. We are a global leader in the semiconductor industry, delivering cutting-edge, massively parallel test infrastructure (IaaS) to customers worldwide. This role provides a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of AI/ML, modern .NET platform development, and hardware/software integration, with challenging projects and high-impact outcomes.

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Software Technical Writer to create and maintain documentation for semiconductor industry products. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with strong writing skills to produce user-focused content that supports our products and enhances customer success.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

· Develop, organize, and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including:

o User manuals

o API documentation

o Installation guides

o Release notes

· Testing and QA process documentation

· Use AI to develop content faster, more easily, and to increase capacity and efficiency.

· Write clear, user-centered content for new and updated features, based on feedback, UX research, support data, SME input, and editorial reviews.

· Develop and optimize content to improve the performance of AI.

· Use data to make informed decisions on content improvements and measure success of experiments/projects.

· Build strong relationships across R&D, UX, Marketing, QA, and Support teams.

· Maintain and improve problematic content with reference to the style guide.

· Establish timelines, delegate tasks, and provide communication for documentation projects.

· Participate actively in team discussions, reviews, and planning.

· Mentor team members at various skill levels.

· Act as a voice of the customer, ensuring documentation enables end-user success.

· Create diagrams, workflows, and step-by-step instructions where required.

· Maintain version control of documentation in sync with software releases.

· Contribute to knowledge base and internal wiki for developers and QA teams.


Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, English, or a related field.

· 5+ years of experience in technical writing/documentation.

· Prior QA or testing experience (manual or automation).

· Strong understanding of SDLC, STLC, Agile/Scrum methodologies.

· Demonstrated ability to use analytics to prioritize and improve content.

· Built and managed a network of SMEs, with strong stakeholder collaboration skills.

· Strong writing skills with knowledge of documentation best practices.

· Excellent craft leadership, communication skills, and mentoring ability.

· Experience in fast-paced environments with changing requirements.

· Familiarity with AI, LLMs, vector search, and prompt engineering.

· Experience with documentation tools:

o Confluence, MadCap Flare, DITA

o Markdown, MS Office, Google Docs

o Diagramming tools (Visio, Lucidchart, Draw.io)

· Knowledge of Docs-as-Code practices and version control (Git).

· Technical literacy: ability to read/understand code, work with Markdown, and analyze data.
